Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
February 27 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until May 31, 2020
Los Angeles County is home to one of the largest populations of any county in the nation. We are also home to one of the largest accounts of hunger.
An estimated 1.4 million people in Los Angeles County live with food insecurity, which means that approximately 16% of those who live here do not know where their next meal is coming from.
Since 1973, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has worked to mobilize resources in the community to alleviate hunger.
To fulfill our mission, we source and acquire food and other products and distribute them to needy people through charitable agencies or directly through programs; conduct hunger education and awareness campaigns and advocate for public policies that alleviate hunger; and energize the community to get involved and support hunger relief.
With the help of 30,000 volunteers annually and an agency network of more than 650 partner agencies, we serve more than 300,000 people on a monthly basis. Without volunteers, the Food Bank would not be able to provide food for thousands of hungry people every week.
Volunteers are needed to help sort, inspect, and repackage donated food items from local food drives. The atmosphere active and fun!
Minimum age for volunteering is 14 years old.
Volunteers must wear closed toe shoes. (No sandals or open toe shoes allowed in the warehouse.)
We recommend wearing comfortable attire, such as t-shirts, tennis shoes, and jeans.
Parking is available on-site, but it is limited. We encourage volunteers to carpool as much as possible. Parking lot is stack parked and there is no early exit. If you need to leave early, please find parking on the street. Street parking is free.
