Heart of Compassion – Public Food Distribution
December 1 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Tuesday and Wednesday, repeating until December 1, 2021
Heart of Compassion Distribution: HOC is a 501(c)(3) food bank and social service organization. HOC works to alleviate hunger, food insecurities and the suffering of those who have fallen on hard times by collecting, packaging, and distributing food to low-income communities through public food distributions and through partnerships with a network of service agencies and programs. They distribute to veterans, seniors, those experiencing homelessness, and families in need.
Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities: Volunteers are responsible for gently handling food products, such as bagged fruits and vegetables, as they load them into shopping carts and/or vehicles during our public food distributions. Volunteers must follow safety directions. Volunteers must also be flexible if asked to work in a different area.
Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 13 years old to help with our public food distributions. Volunteers must wear a safety vest (provided if needed), wear closed-toed shoes, wear modest clothing, wear a mask and gloves (gloves are provided if needed), allow staff to check their temperature upon arrival, check in and out with the office every day they volunteer, be willing to stand/walk for long periods of time, and let the office know if they cannot attend their scheduled shift. Volunteers may need to lift/load heavy boxes.
